These were the initial fruits of Einstein's basic assumptions (the principle of the constancy of the velocity of light and the principle of relativity): First, a moving object appears to contract in its direction of motion and become shorter as its velocity increases until, at the speed of light, it disappears altogether. Second, a moving clock runs more slowly than a clock at rest, and continues to slow its rhythm as its velocity increases until, at the speed of light, it stops running altogether. |

Pyramidal structures oriented to the cardinal directions were said to perform such feats as keeping fruits and flowers fresh and sharpening dull razor blades. And as an added bonus, of course, the pyramid shape contributes to the preservation of Egyptian mummies.
Some people constructed pyramids over their beds or made special pyramid-shaped solariums in their homes, providing places to experience these mysterious curative and rejuvenating powers. |

An alkaline diet including fresh or frozen vegetables (with the exception of Brussels sprouts and artichokes), salads, mushrooms, fresh fruits, potatoes, all other root vegetables, top-grade olive oil, fruit and vegetable juices, water and herbal teas, and abstinence from animal proteins is the foundation for treatment. Salt therapy imparts additional beneficial effects. In fact, for quite a long time traditional medicine has recognized the healing power of salt in the treatment of psoriasis. |

In places like India or Mexico, plenty of raw foods are available if one likes fruits with a hard outer covering, such as bananas or papayas. The covering gives protection against parasites and pesticides.
It is possible to maintain a live-food diet while traveling if one carries one's own extra supplies. For example, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, alfalfa seeds, dried fruit, and dried vegetables work well. Taking along a light-weight, portable water filter to purify drinking water and for soaking the dry foods overnight is a must. |
Fiber contained in pectin, which is a soluble fiber found in fruits and seeds, especially sunflower seeds, also has high chelation properties. Phytates, found in grains and beans, and sulphur-containing amino acids, found particularly in the cabbage family, are also good chelators. Not only do these have a chelating effect, but the sulphur-containing amino acid vegetables prevent the uptake of sulphur-135.
Special Foods That Protect Against Radiation Exposure

Therapeutic diets such as only fruits for cleansing, less than 10% fat diet for heart disease, or prolonged juice fasting have specific roles and specific effects. For some who stay on them for the long term or for pregnancy, they may actually create deficiencies. Therapeutic diets aim to cure disease and restore health. They are not necessarily the best diets for long-term use or for pregnancy. |
Citrus is high in vitamin C, and melons are high in vitamin A. fruits have an important role in cleansing as well.
Pregnancy Superfoods
There are certain superfoods that add significant benefits to the prepregnancy, prenatal, and lactation nutrition program. One of the most important of these is brewer's yeast. It is 40-50% protein and is particularly high for a vegetarian food in RNA and DNA. It is one of the best food sources of the total B-complex in the most natural form. It is known as one of the best foods to stimulate breast milk production. |

Other researchers in the field contend that trace minerals are best given to the body in forms that are complexed with organic food molecules—such as what is found in fruits and vegetables grown on mineral-rich soil. Unfortunately, such ideal produce is still in limited supply. So I cook with the Great Salt Lake mineral product and bank on the possibility that its minerals will complex with the food while it simmers.
Meanwhile, I am convinced that the effort to limit our salt intake is worthwhile, at least for some of us. |
This responsibility is not limited to pharmaceuticals, but includes caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine—as well as many of the medicinal compounds in herbs or even those in fruits and vegetables. In fact, everything that has been absorbed goes directly to the liver. It is a stopover point where not only are toxins pulled out, but nutrients are sorted and essentials stored for later use. You also use your liver to filter out and package for excretion all the chemical pollutants you take in with food, water, or air. |

Black tea and green tea are both rich in flavonoids, which are vitaminlike compounds that naturally occur in tea, and also in fruits and vegetables. Flavonoids tend to make blood cells less prone to clotting. Therefore they can help reduce risk of stroke, including the "mini-strokes" that can cause symptoms similar to Alzheimer's. In one recent study, men with a high flavonoid intake had a 73-percent lower risk of stroke than a control group, over a fifteen-year period. The men in the study got about 60 percent of their flavonoids from tea. |

In order to receive a proper amount and balance of minerals, one must rely on a diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and other natural products. These foods are the result of plants which have preselected those minerals which are necessary for the maintenance of life to the point where the plant has been able to produce the vegetation and(or) fruit which we eat.
When purchasing foods, care must be taken to avoid beverages such as soft drinks, beers and wines, juice drinks and fruit juices from concentrate, etc. that have been bottled in fluoridated areas. |

However, the American Cancer Society suspects that there is a link and, in addition to initiating a series of tests in 1992, has recommended eating high-fiber foods such as whole grain cereals, vegetables, and fruits as a probable method of reducing colorectal cancer risks.
What evidence there is for protection from colorectal cancer is stronger for fiber from vegetables than from grains. Dietary fiber does reduce polyps, and since polyps can develop into cancer, this reduction in polyps is likely to translate into decreased chances of cancer. |

Many people develop their own vegetarian approach, adding fish to an otherwise vegan diet, or eating dairy products on occasion. Vegetarian diets may sound dull and dreary to people who have never tried them. Restaurants, magazine recipes, and cookbooks, however, display attractive and varied dishes that most people find tasty and satisfying. |

Good sources of fiber can be found in fruits, vegetables, and whole-grain breads, as well as nuts and legumes. Like other types of food, fiber can be eaten in excess and, in such a case, may cut down on the absorption of important trace minerals during digestion. For most Americans, this is not a problem, however, since most diets are low in dietary fiber.

Typically, chemical phosphates (rather than the much needed organic phosphorus mineral) are added to soil for growing fruits and vegetables. Now these chemical products destroy the tiny microorganisms in the soil that are necessary to convert inorganic minerals into a usable form for the plant to absorb. Not only is the soil already lacking naturally occurring minerals, but it is difficult for the plants to assimilate what minerals are left. Plants will grow in soil that is low in minerals and trace elements such as magnesium, manganese, iron, iodine, chromium, and selenium. |

To meet your brain's demand for protein, soy products are especially valuable because they're low in fat and high in the amino acids that make up neurotransmitters. Soy protein is also an effective free-radical scavenger, because of its high content of genisten, a potent antioxidant. Soy tends to boost "good" high-density lipoprotdn cholesterol, and it reduces triglycerides. |

Finally, the water is sealed in vials. The fruits of this effort are a natural seawater with a ratio of 30 to 35 grams of salt per liter. *
Of course, it is necessary to match this seawater to the isotonic fluid of the cellular enviroment by adding some nonmineral spring water. As during Quinton's time—when the seawater was diluted with natural spring water—the water today is mixed with heated, distilled water that lends its diluting properties to the product. This results in a concentration of 9 grams of salt per liter, the original Quinton's Marine Plasma. |

If you do eat a diet that is composed mostly of grains, vegetables, and fruits, you'll be helping more than just your brain.
You'll also cut your cancer risk by at leasthalf, according to the National Institutes of Health, and you'll cut your risk of cardiovascular disease by approximately 70 percent. You'll also greatly reduce your risk of diabetes, and reduce by 80 percent your risk of the most common form of adult-onset blindness (macular degeneration). Also, you'll have more energy, your sex drive will probably increase, and you'll very likely lose weight. |
Eat a diet that's a balance of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and non-animal-based protein, along with some low-fat dairy and some low-fat meat (if you feel you must have meat).

More than half of all Americans consume no fruits, vegetables, or fruit juices at all on an average day. Only 16 percent of all Americans eat a serving of a high-fiber bread or cereal during an average day.
Furthermore, even when we do eat healthy foods, these foods tend to be relatively depleted in nutrients, compared to the foods that people consumed one hundred years ago. Modern food has been devitalized and robbed of nutrients by the conversion to monoculture (the growing of only one crop on an area of farmland). |
This happens for a simple reason: grains, vegetables, and fruits are less fattening than filling. You should be able to eat an abundant amount of them and still maintain your ideal weight.
Now you've gotten most of the fundamental information on what you should be eating for your Brain Longevity Diet. But before we move on to supplements and natural medicinal tonics, let's take a look at three special nutritional issues: sexual nutrition, nutrition for insomnia, and cerebral allergies. |

The zealous crew was going overboard in the whole-foods direction. fruits and vegetables were not peeled, so that nothing would be lost nutritionally; stems and roots were to be tossed in, too, since they were "an integral part of the plant." Other crusaders had decreed white rice off limits, and used only brown. Meanwhile, the bread crew had its own campaign going, it was using only full-grain whole wheat flour, and was adding generous quantities of extra bran to the bread dough. It all added up to enough fiber to start a paper mill. |

There's no reason to think that all the "important ingredients" in fruits and vegetables have been discovered just yet. That means that the supplement you take instead of a vitamin may be missing a key ingredient your body needs to fight cancer or other diseases.
The best bet for health, then, is to eat wisely and take supplements where necessary.
You should also be careful not to take too much of any given supplement. As with many medications, too often a little of a supplement will have desirable health effects while taking doses beyond a certain amount will cause detrimental effects. |
