AGNI and the delicate balance of minerals and vitamins in the body. This especially applies to multivitamin preparations. Although there are conditions when taking extra vitamins may be beneficial, for example, before and after removing amalgam fillings from the teeth, they ought not to be taken in large doses and for more than 10-14 days at a time. This is best done under supervision of a health practitioner who is aware of the side effects that vitamins can have. In any case, synthetic vitamins should be avoided at all cost. |

You could buy raw fruits and vegetables that don't require fancy packaging. For soaps, you could be buying Dr. Bronner's soaps, which come in economy-sized bottles. Those are the types of products you buy when you genuinely care about the planet.
Urine trouble!
Of course, if you care about the planet, you also shouldn't be taking prescription drugs and urinating them back into the water supply. How is that for polluting the planet? Don't you realize that everything you put in your mouth ends up getting flushed down the toilet? |

Inositol is found in brewer's yeast, fruits, lecithin, legumes, meats, milk, unrefined molasses, raisins, vegetables, and whole grains.
Comments
Consuming large amounts of caffeine may cause a shortage of inositol in the body.
Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA)
PABA is one of the basic constituents of folate and also helps in the assimilation of pantothenic acid. PABA can be converted into folate by intestinal bacteria. This antioxidant helps protect against sunburn by reducing the absorption of ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation. Consequently, it helps to prevent skin cancer. |

Write It Down
Aside from getting you to focus more on low-calorie, high-nutrient vegetables and fruits, calculating your body score brings another tool into play: the dietary diary. Even if you do nothing else in your weight loss efforts, do this. Get yourself a portable notebook. It can be as nice as you like, or as inexpensive as a little flip pad. But it does need to be small, because you should take it with you everywhere you go and write down everything you eat. Not just the menus of your meals, though that is necessary and can be fun. |

Recommendations
Q Increase your consumption of green, leafy vegetables— especially collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and turnip greens—legumes; yellow vegetables; flavonoid-rich berries such as blueberries, blackberries, and cherries; and foods rich in vitamins E and C, such as raw fruits and vegetables.
Q Avoid alcohol, cigarette smoke, all sugars, saturated fats, and foods containing fats and oils that have been subjected to heat and/or exposed to the air, such as fried foods, hamburgers, luncheon meats, and roasted nuts. |

Most of the fruits of the space age—digital chips and satellite phones—travel easily. It's the backhoe-centric world of civil engineering that's harder to share. We need to find ways to make this kind of technology available to developing nations, or we need to find substitutes.
This is a genuinely hard problem. Industrial-age artifacts are quintessential-ly different from space-age artifacts. They are raw, big, dug in, enduring. Think about trying to provide rural telephone service in China using precellular technologies. Thousands of miles of cable per village. |

Where It Matters Most: Schools and Hospitals mmmm Farm-to-school: In most school cafeterias, if the fruits and vegetables don't come from cans, they come from the freezer. Whole grains are as hard to find as a second helping of tater tots. Juice comes from concentrate, and sugary sodas are widely available. What does this mean for our kids? Poor nutrition, yes, but also poor concentration, low grades, and plummeting energy levels. |

Mike: That's wonderful. What is the sweetener that's used in the product?
Burt: We use a little stevia in it. We also have a little of organic soymilk in there. That, of course, adds a little sweetness to it. It has some organic cane juice in it. Per serving, it only has one gram of sugar.
Mike: That's fantastic. Really for children you have to have that great taste even if you have to have a little bit of evaporated cane juice in there to make it go down.
Burt: It does. |

It's now abundandy clear that if the gap left by preoccupied parents is filled by the fruits of technology, toxic childhood syndrome begins to take hold. Then, as their offspring grow ever more dis-tractible, impulsive, egocentric and difficult to manage, there's even more incentive for parents to find alternative, more congenial company. |

To get the most energy and nutrients, whenever possible choose fruits and vegetables that are grown locally, in season, and certified organic. Choose a variety of colors, too. The reason: Different colors suggest different nutritional compositions, and you want to be sure that you're getting the best mix of nutrients you can. For fruits, one serving equals Vi cup of berries or a medium-size fruit; for veggies, one serving equals 1 cup of leafy greens or Vi cup of a nonleafy vegetable.

The researchers suggest having at least six servings a day of produce (three vegetables and three fruits) to get adequate vitamin C and beta-carotene. They also recommend substituting fish (a 3-ounce serving every other day), beans (V2 cup), and nuts (1 ounce) for meat. Vitamin D and fish oil supplements (for those who cannot stomach fish) may also be helpful. These foods seem to provide anti-inflammatory nutrients that may help relieve joint pain.

The most protective produce included onions and garlic, beans, carrots, yellow vegetables, and dark, leafy vegetables.

The FDA would like to imagine that it is the ultimate authority over all things health related and that only it can approve what words we might use to describe the fruits and vegetables we share with our neighbors. And as such, the FDA is an entity of ignorance and evil that actually seeks to de-educate the American people, and the day of outing the criminals who currently operate the FDA is long overdue. This is an agency whose decision makers need to be immediately arrested and tried for their crimes against humanity. |

Looking specifically at food choices, one study found that identical twins "show the greatest similarity in food tastes" when compared to same-sex and opposite-sex fraternal twins, and another that identicals had more similar preferences for fruits and vegetables (but not for staple items).3 More recently, the authors of a large study of 455 pairs (232 identical, 223 fraternal) looked at differences in twin dietary intake and found that "intraclass correlations are consistently and significantly higher for identical twins for every nutrient. |

I always tell a person if you are making a choice between some processed food versus fruits and vegetables, and you can't afford the organic, go with the non-organic. You are still better off than buying the processed foods.
Ben: Right, so all the health detriments that a traditionally grown vegetable might have, it's still not as bad as red meat.
Mike: Absolutely. I'd take non-organic produce over packaged foods any day of the week, if I didn't have the funds or the choice of organic foods. Now, of course, I support organic foods very strongly. That's your best choice. |

When choosing carbohydrate-rich foods for your diet, choose unrefined foods such as fruits, vegetables, peas, beans, and whole-grain products, instead of refined, processed foods such as soft drinks, desserts, candy, and sugar. Refined foods offer few, if any, of the vitamins and minerals that are important to your health. In addition, eating large amounts of simple carbohydrates found in refined foods, especially over a period of many years, can lead to a number of disorders, including diabetes and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). |

You have to follow a pristine diet, avoid ingredients that cause disease and take in fresh foods, including vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, grains and whole grains. Whenever possible, eat these foods raw. If you want truly exceptional-looking skin on the outside, then combine a healthy diet with Lluvia. That's my take on this product line.
Personally, I won't be using it because I don't have the patience to apply skin care products every day. (I keep my hair short, for example, because I can't stand taking the time to dry long hair. |

On the other hand, if you want an earth that is scorched with pesticides, with polluted rivers, increasingly unlivable oceans, polluted produce and heavy metals in your soils, and if you want a system of corporate greed and exploitation, then go ahead and buy the non-organic fruits, vegetables and processed foods because that's what you're going to create by making that decision.

If you can get one of these food bars into your body every day, you're going to be giving yourself the benefits without having to walk outside and pick fruits off a bush. Now obviously it would be more beneficial if you could get all of these ingredients in their fresh, unprocessed form. It would be better to eat a lot of fresh, whole blueberries or raspberries or wheat grass juice and so on. But that's not practical for most of us. |

You have anticancer properties in blueberries, and in all of the small fruits – blackberries, raspberries, acai and goji berries from Asia. Then you have onion, ginger and garlic. Garlic is phenomenal as an anti-cancer food. It contains sulphur compounds that just obliterate cancer cells. You've got spirulina, which contains anticancer phytochemicals called phycocyanin, which provide a blue-green color. When injected into breast tumors in laboratory studies in Japan, it's been shown to cause breast tumors to self-destruct. You've got chlorella and oxygen treatments. |

We need our fruits and our vegetables. They aren't the bad culprits -- it's the processed carbs. Not all fat is bad. We're learning that there is good fat. Taking omega-3 fats, mono-saturated fats and vegetable fats in their healthy state will actually lower LDL cholesterol. They lower total cholesterol and raise your good HDL. For proteins, it's the same thing. There is good protein out there, and there is bad protein. So my book pretty much focuses on eating a healthy diet that does not spike your blood sugar, and it talks about exercise. It is just modest exercise that gets your body moving. |

It's astounding how many different fruits and vegetables are combined into this one product, this Berry Green powder. Ten years ago, they didn't have anything like this. Fifty years ago, they didn't even know about this stuff. Doctors thought there were only four vitamins. We sure learned a lot since then, right?
